Theme/ Appreciation Days

Throughout the year, themed days/weeks are woven into the curriculum. These include, Anti-bullying Week, Mental Health and Wellbeing week, charity fundraising events, World Book Day and Science week.

Year One have recently experienced a day as Kings and Queens as part of their ‘Castles’ theme. They enjoyed a royal banquet for their lunch

‘When I Grow Up Day’. Year One came to school dressed as someone they aspire to be- police officers were a favourite..

Staff and children enjoy dressing up on World book day and enjoyed some of our favourite books.

In Year Two, children were learning about the Great Fire of London. They went back in time to 1666 and recreated a street of Tudor houses in Pudding Lane. We then watched as the fire started in the bakery and how quickly the fire spread through the Tudor houses.

The children also became bakers for the day and were hard at work baking their own bread in the Pudding Lane Bakery.

During Science week we enjoy having ‘Living Eggs’ in school each year. We are fortunate to observe the life cycle of chicks and year 2 are responsible for feeding and cleaning them.
